Retired NASA astronaut, Karen Nyberg, who is the first person to quilt in space, launched a “Lunar Quilt Block Challenge”. The challenge to quilters was to “represent what space exploration and returning to the moon means to you.” The resulting two quilts are now on display at the Kennedy Center.

Ask Lisa about her trip to QuiltCon which was held in Phoenix, AZ in February. Lisa says, “It was awesome! Very inspiring.” The event lasted four days and displayed 483 quilts of the 2,000 entries received. It was attended by more than 23,000 people.
In preparation for hosting the 2025 Four Corners Quilters Gathering, the San Juan Quilters Guild members have been busy. The gathering will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Durango Public Library.
